A|D|S Scotland is the trade association for the aerospace, defence, space and naval sectors in Scotland. Established in 2005, the organisation works with stakeholders such as Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Executive and the Scottish Parliament to ensure the continued success of these vital industries in Scotland.

Smiths Detection - Meet the Technologist - 24 June, Glasgow
On 24th June A|D|S Scotland provided hi-tech companies with an ideal opportunity to meet senior technologists from Smiths Detection. Attendees also heard about security technology requirements from a senior Home Office representative. On 16th December 2009, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) announced a five-year £2.4 billion investment strategy in world-leading multi-disciplinary science and technology, designed to deliver maximum scientific, societal, international and economic benefit for the . The strategy includes commitments to maintain and develop key national and international science facilities, whose major procurement programmes offer a host of opportunities to companies. As you may be aware, the Space Special Interest Group will be running two SME days for the Space Innovation and Growth Team project to ensure that views are captured from this community. The following dates are fast approaching and we believe the seminar would be more beneficial with a greater number of participants. To gain the maximum input from this community we would appreciate your support to drive this out to SMEs who may be within your reach. This may include those who have a capability for space but do not consider themselves space users. About A|D|S Scotland
Following consultation with the Scottish aerospace industry and key stakeholders, SBAC established an operation in 2005 to support sector competitiveness and provide a targeted programme of services for members in Scotland. Scotland has been at the heart of the aerospace industry since its very beginnings and is currently attracting major international investments on the basis of its skilled workforce, global links, strong and diverse local supplier base and excellent research teams. The Scottish Aerospace Strategy, launched in March 2003 by Scottish Enterprise, aims to create or safeguard approximately 4,500 jobs over three years. The aerospace and defence industries in Scotland employee more than 30,000 people in around 140 local companies. It is a key part of the UK industry with a mix of both civil and defence activities undertaken by prime contractors and SMEs. A|D|S Scotland will work with the industry base, the Centre of Excellence, Scottish Enterprise and other stakeholders to develop a range of services and programmes geared to business development, industrial transformation and raising the visibility of Scottish aerospace capability on a global scale. A|D|S Scotland is delighted to welcome 2 new members to its Council - Angela Mathis, CEO of ThinkTank Maths based in Edinburgh and Ian Burnett, Director of Vector Aerospace in Perth have accepted invitations to join the Council. Please find attached brief profiles of both new members.

Boeing Technology Day, Glasgow, October 2008
On 7th October A|D|S Scotland held its 4th All Members Forum meeting which provided companies with an ideal opportunity to present their company's technology, capability and research to senior executives from The Boeing Company; hear how Cranfield University is working with Boeing; and find out how MoD's Industrial Participation policy can assist companies.

In addition, representation was present from Boeing's technology organisations.
