National Defence Industries Council

The National Defence Industries Council normally meets four times a year and is the forum in which industry meets the MoD, DBIS, UKTI and HM Treasury, alongside Trade Union representatives. It is normally chaired by the Defence Secretary or the Minister of State for Defence Equipment and Support (in MoD).

A|D|S uses its position on the NDIC to give industry an opportunity to raise important issues with Ministers and also to develop policy and practice through a range of joint activities between the MoD and industry carried out under the umbrella of the NDIC. Secretariat support for the NDIC is provided by MOD.

NDIC Sub Groups

Six joint MOD/Industry groups work directly under the auspices of the NDIC:

  • NDIC Research and Development Group
  • Through Life Capability Management Strategy Group
  • Commercial Policy Strategy Group
  • Human Resources Group
  • Joint Information Group
  • Joint Communications Group

The DIC Secretariat facilitates communications between these groups and the NDIC on strategic issues. The following tree diagram shows the NDIC groups and their subordinate groups.

If you wish to understand more about the workings of any of the groups you should contact the appropriate facilitator, as listed in the diagram.
