SC21 maturity plan

The SC21 programme is overseen by SBAC's Enterprise Excellence Board and continues the work of the Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team [AeIGT].which developed a vision of the UK Aerospace Supply chain until 2022.

In order to more clearly describe what SC21 will look like and deliver, a separate SC21 Maturity matrix was developed.

The SC21 maturity matrix describes the key milestone in terms of enablers and results the industry should be looking to achieve thought the implementation of SC21 over the next 15 years.

In addition to a clear vision, in order to ensure a successful implementation is important to ensure four other key elements are in place, Incentives, plan, skills and resources.

Failure to ensure these are addressed can lead to the following results:

  • NO INCENTIVES = NO CHANGE
  • NO VISION = CONFUSION
  • NO PLAN = FALSE STARTS
  • NO SKILLS = ANXIETY
  • NO RESOURCES = FRUSTRATION

The SC21 programme has addressed each of these requirements.

The incentives for changes required to equipment the supply chain for the 21st Century are clearly laid out in the SC21 Action Plan

The SC21 Implementation guide describes the plan of how SC21 will be implemented.

The requirements for skills and resources to support the programme has been addressed both at a local level, via the engagement of the regional partners who are able to allocate exist appropriate local resources, and also by encompassing SC21 as part of the national aerospace skills agenda with the DTI.
